My baby had a birthday!
I cannot believe Owen is three years old now. He's turning into such the little boy. His precious baby face is fading away into an actual little boy.
We had a dino-rrific brrrthday party for O. I planned activities and everything! This is a first. I usually let the cousins run rampant in the backyard and we all just kind of hang out. This year I was inspired by an episode of Ni Hao Kai Lan. Yep, that's right. She had and her Grandpa planned a day of Dinosaur Games! I totally adapted two of the games to work for Owen's party.
First game was the dinosaur egg hunt. Chris spray painted old Easter eggs that we still had on hand - because we all know dinosaurs had camo colored eggs, not pink and purple! I stuffed tiny dinosaurs in each egg. Then, because it's December and it was rainy and cold outside, I hid 48 dino eggs in my living room. The kids loved it though, especially the older ones with Easter egg hunting experience.
That was my own idea. I found $2 dinosaurs in the Target dollar bin and talked Chris into spray painting them gold for me to use as trophies. We split the kids into two groups, older kids and younger kids, so that they trophy winning was a little more fair. Owen got the trophy for the little kids in the egg hunt.
Our next game was jumping over the dinosaur foot print. A Special Thanks to Aunt Jackie for taking charge of making the foot print out of masking tape in the living room for me!
I didn't get any pictures of the kids jumping, but it was great fun. They kept on jumping long after the trophies had been awarded! Here's Owen jumping, after the party was over, in his new dino hoodie I made him.
I used this dinosaur party as inspiration for my table decor. Lots of plants and green leaf lettuce under the food.
And I used this dinosaur party for the swamp punch idea, which by the way, was a huge hit with the kiddos. (See swamp punch mustache on Owen!)
Lots of present opening was done...
And of course we blew out candles and ate cupcakes.
Can't forget about the goodie bags! One small dinosaur fossil and a few dinosaur tatoos stuck in a ziplock bag with the zip cut off. Filled with green crinkle and tied off with ribbon.
And one last picture, Owen got a doctor outfit for his birthday, and isn't he just the most handsome doctor you ever saw??
Love the gold dinos! Such a fun creative idea for a birthday party!
